The story of NANOUK

Nanouk now lives in paradise in Germany but this was not always the case. One day last year Ann (the president of the animal welfare group) received a phone call from the police to come and take away an Alaskan Malamut. He had been wandering around for days in the area where he had been thrown out. When she arrived at the police station poor Nanouk was lying outside tied up in the hot sun with no water and surrounded by a group of policemen. To her horror she saw around his neck a chain collar with teeth it had even been tightened with wire by his owner so that the teeth were sticking right into his neck so that when he moved it was making it bleed!!!!. When she saw the size of him she was in a panic and wondered what on earth she could do with him as he was so BIG!! The problem was that where she keeps the dogs at that time she has a lot of tiny puppies. Anyway he was taken to the compound and placed in with all the puppies, there were 15 there at that time. A pair of wire cutters was found and his collar was cut away and his wounds were treated.
Nanouk was unbelievable he was so gentle with all the puppies, never complaining and only when someone came to feed and clean them would he accidentally tread on some of them as being so tiny they would get under his feet and he just could not see them. All of his friends on the picture life in Germany now (except the Lady)
After a time it became obvious that he was feeling the strain of being with so many puppies as they just would not leave him alone if he wanted to lie down they would just climb all over him biting him and pulling his hair . A decison had to be made to do something for Nanouk. Sylvia and her husband John who help to clean and feed the dogs came forward and took him into their care. Then Sylvia set about transforming Nanouk from a dog that had never been cared for to a magnificent looking boy. She pulled out handfulls of hair, combed him and then bathed him, all of this took many days. THANK YOU SO MUCH SYLVIA AND JOHN
In the meantime Ann tried so many rescue sites for Malamuts in Norway, Sweden & Denmark....Nothing all were full. He was even advertised in Holland but noone seemed to want him. The situation was becoming desperate as he had now been with us for about 2 months, eating us out of house and home BLESS HIM and THEN along came Birgit from Germany she had heard about our boy and flew over to Crete to see him. Well the rest is history and you will see from the photos how spoilt and loved he is and he shares his new home with 3 other much loved doggie friends.
Well it was LOVE at first sight for both of them and she immediately phoned back home to tell her partner Timo.	At the airport in Heraklion with other 3 doggiefriends on the way to a good life in Germany

What a life
This big gentle loving dog has finally got the love and care that he should have had from the beginning and we wish Birgit, Timo and Nanouk many happy years together.
