Meet the Team

Ann: President and founder member

English, moved to Crete in 1975. She is very much the driving force behind our organization working tirelessly on the 'hands-on' and organizational side and liaising with the Mirtos Animal Project arranging flights etc. She is the main contact for emergency cases; fosters puppies and dogs; makes innumerable trips every year transporting them to the airport and vets and is also involved in all fund-raising activities.

Pete: Vice President

English, moved to Crete in 1999. He has a 'roving commission' with FotA. He writes and publishes our newsletter and is our 'official' photographer. He also shares the administration work with Ann, helps with fund raising and generally steps in to help whenever he can. He has fostered adult dogs in the past but for the past few years has concentrated on fostering very young puppies.

Sue: Secretary

English, moved to Crete in 1999 with husband, Pete, (Vice President). She is involved in fostering very young puppies and fund raising. In particular, she is responsible for our Market Stall which she set up in 2006. She runs this with Rosemary, one of our helpers, every Friday morning during the tourist season. Her outgoing personality has attracted the attention of passing tourists resulting in much-needed additional funds by way of donations, the sale of small animal-related items and home-made local produce.

Liza:

Swedish, moved to Crete in 1996. She is one of our foster parents and also helps whenever possible in transporting dogs to the airport and vets. Her ability to speak English, German and Greek, as well as her own language, has proved to be a tremendous help with these activities.

Sylvia:

English, moved to Crete in 2004. She is one of our foster parents and is also involved with fund raising activities. She is invaluable when acting as helper, when needed, on trips to the vets and also the transportation of dogs and puppies to the airport.

Bev:

English, moved to Crete in 1990. She had been involved in animal welfare in a neighborhood area of Crete for a considerable time but volunteered her services to FOTA several years ago. She fosters puppies and dogs which are sick, injured or traumatised and helps with transporting them to the vets and the airport.

Sue:

English, moved to Crete in 2002. She is very much 'hands on' with the dogs having allowed us to use a piece of land where we can keep them and where she looks after them on a daily basis. She helps with transporting them to the airport and occasional trips to the vet and is also involved in fund-raising.
